At the moment the best highlight of a part's eges I can get is this:
When what I want is this (less the blue, obviously):
Which I can only get if I hover the mouse over the item.
Can I achieve this effect already, or is this something for the future?
Hi,
I am not sure if I've understanded what you mean, do you mean you want to get the effect when the object selected?

I want to be able to have this effect in an illustration or video.
At the moment, the only way to highlight edges is to hover the mouse over the item. You can not produce an illustration or video with this effect.
Thanks for your feedback, you are right, Publisher doesn't support this effect in the output. I've added this to our wishlist.

Hi there,
So... I'm happy to report that you *can* get this effect for video/images by using the Style Gallery. You can use a pre-set Style like "Basic Shading" and use that as a base or you can Create New Style at the bottom of the dialog:
To edit the lines that highlight the edges of the parts, use the Edges section to turn on/off Internal or Silhouette edges as well as apply lineweights:
By turning them both on in the current Style, this is the effect we're able to create:
I hope this is helpful - Happy Publishing!

Thanks for your reply, subsales.
This is not the effect I was trying to achieve, however.
The problem is that Publisher cannot emphasise edges when showing any transparency.
For example, if you cannot illustrate a transparent wireframe in Publisher.
