I'd like the ability to create symmetrical constraints, so I'm not required to work around this via other methods. It would allow me to work faster and with more assurance. Also, I'd like the option to select symmetry based on various points, lines, planes. Etc.
It would nice to be able to select a part or an assembly, and then in the right click menu you'd be able to access the contraints that you have applied to that part or assembly instead of going through the browser to find them.
Quite often when I’m editing an existing mate, I don’t know which is selected face1 and which is selected face 2. If I am resolving something through design doctor it is particularly important to know this. I know they are different colours but they are not different enough for it to be obvious which is which.
I just thought that there could be a number 1 and 2 near the direction arrows to make it obvious.
If you create a derived component when the source component has its appearance ovveriden (on all surfaces or on some of them), you are not able to de-select the "User color override from source component" option (it is greyed out).
You have to create the derived part, then edit it to unselect the option.
It would be nice to be able to (un)select this option when creating the derived component.
I would like to see Inventor better able to to apply fillets to complex shapes. Improved variable radius fillet operation. I would also like to see an improved shell operation. The shell command struggles with complex geometries. Lastly, for now, improve the shell variable wall thickness operation. I've tried to shell complex objects only to find that Inventor just could not do it. Then I have to find an alternate way to model it, when shelling would make the modeling much easier.
if we have to use the 2013 "new and improved" material or appearance editor:
i would suggest the ability to multi select / edit / delete items.
even deleting items from these editor windows does not give keyboard entry to delete or otherwise.
it seems we have some cross over from the different software developers cross pollinating the categories of software bundled into the Suite more and more. some of these ideas are good & nice, but if we are to adopt the changes then let us not get rid of functionality that we already have. multiselect and keyboard access would help.
even the terminology of some of the functions could be adjusted eg:
pre 2013 version function to save a style back to the style library=
-via rmb context menu was: "save to style library"
2013 version =
-now via rmb context menu is: "save to"
choose sub menu, choose sub menu(s)".
so if you are going to change the functionality, at least use a command name such as:
"save to (style library) within:"
>fly out options.
ie please try to have provide some level of familiarity and workflow & command access cross over when you are making your new interfaces and commands.
