i can use 3d sketch for loft command solid body modelling. But i can not use 3d sketch for sheet metal lofted-flange command. We can use 3d sketch for sheet-metal lofted flange command.
We really need to be able to select a 3D sketch when creating a Lofted Flange. When we have a large press brake plate forming a pipe that intersects a large tank, we need to be able to select the 3D sketch as a profile in the Lofted Flange dialog box. It would make creating these pipes, or any type of transitions, easier and quicker to model.
Hence my idea of being abe to flatten non developable surfaces. There is no point is being able to create a complex sheet metal loft if you cant flatten it.
I agree with this idea. Here is a sample from the industry. One of our customer who designs fluid tanks asked me how they can create this transition geometry using sheet metal and then generate flat pattern. I couldnt create the exact geometry only one approximate model.
