This is not normal to manufacturing so why?

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not normal for manufacturing, the almighty GOD says.

Maybe there are some things in manufacturing that you dont understand yet

so don't be so quick to decide what is needed and what is not.

It can happen in real life production to build a component as a welded assembly and perform turning operations with external thread. In Inventor this is not possible to replicate it, because the command to do external threads, in the weldment envirenments missing.. Together with the commands extrude, revolve, etc., you can enter the command thread?

Add the ability to place an external thread in an assy environment. Currently yiou have to edit the assy part and place the thread there.

Amen!  Such a silly omission.

Since thread feature is a material removal process, it's good to have thread feature at assembly environment to make external threads.

I have a need to add threads in a sub-assebly and Inventor doesn't have a feature command to do so.

Example:

My Sub-Assembly consists of three piece parts of dissimilar materials that are pressed together.  After pressing together, they are then placed back on the lathe and machined to the correct size, with one end having an external thread added to a hub.

Without having a thread shown in the drawing, the thread has to be manually placed and called out on the drawing.  Frustrating to say the least.

Inventor folks, please add this feature!

Given the fact that the materials are dissimilar, I can see where this feature would make a lot of sense.

Thumbs up from me!

This is what I'm asking for at every Inventor update in the last years.

See Forum Thread:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Inventor-General/How-to-make-thread-in-assembly/td-p/3247880/page/2

External threads can currently only be done by deriving an assembly, while internal ones can be done via the hole feature in Assemblies directly.

External Threads can be applied to welded tubes, so this should also be available in the post weld environment.

Make it available in just an IAM also please.  We have instances where we have a blank purchased (Pre cut to length) then pull it into an IAM and machine it (Not a weldment). Model it this way so the BOM is set up correctly to carry over to vault items.

Thanks

I also need to add a thread feature in a weldment as well as as adding it to a purchased part. This is a VERY COMMON machining function and needs to be addressed.
