Select default symbol in text/dimension dialogue box

When editing text in dimensions or leaders, I frequently need to insert the "Ø" symbol. The dropdown of symbols shows the degree symbol by default. Make this box remember which symbol was used most recently or most frequently and keep these settings. I rarely use the degree symbol and find it cumbersome to navigate a dropdown menu to get the symbol I want. Better yet, give us some customizable shortcut buttons built in (somewhere independent of the dropdown) with our top 3 most frequently used symbols. For me, that would be the CL symbol, +/-, and Diameter.

In addition, please add the same functionality for symbols to the TABLES dialogue box. Right now the only way I see to get symbols in tables is to learn ALT codes or copy and past from somewhere else.

ALT codes do change if you work with a different keyboard layout (non-US) so, this is not a reliable option, why the heck autodesk does not keep the %%c and %%d and %%p for the most common symbols? I ask myself this everytime I have to add such a symbol
