Improve Chamfer Note drawing tool

Issue:

Currently a chamfer note will report an inaccurate length if another feature such as a hole, a cut, or a fillet is applied on top of the chamfer feature:

Suggestion:

Allow the chamfer note to read the model feature data, rather than simply reading the drawing curve length.

mrattray, I guess if they want that to work they have to get this to work 1st. What if you have the same chamfer on both ends but one has a 1/8 radius and the other with 1/4 your idea will not work so by them accepting your idea they must have fixed this..

This is a really great idea. It would make chamfer annotations so much smarter and more robust. It would be especially powerful if this smart annotation tool could recognize both fillet AND chamfer features, and would display the proper note depending on which it was, even if the feature were switched from one to the other.

In order for this to be possible though, there would have to be a way to swap between a fillet and chamfer in the modeling environment as well, which isn't currently possible. My thought is, what better way to enable that than by combining the fillet and chamfer tools into one? It might look something like this:

This way both tools would be in the same place, share the same capabilities and dialog box, and could be easily and instantly switched from one to the other.

Still an issue in 2019...
