Just discovered the Frame Generator - very happy with it so far but the lack of a gusset design feature is a glaring gap in the program even to someone who's been using it less than 24 hours. Would have thought a gusset generator (could perhaps function similar to the Chamfer and Fillet features) would have been included a long time ago? Cheers.
It would be good to see a tool that would allow strengthening ribs to be added along the length of I beams (joists) or channel maybe using the same / or similar profile used when notching. Reason being, sometimes when designing a frame, strengthening rib is required due to upper load. Yes conventional modelling techniques can be used to create and add such a model, but it would be great to see a Frame Generator tool that would help do this based on the inserted beam geometry and help speed up the process.
Frame Generator hasn`t instruments for metal connection plate. I would like introduce to you features for design connection plate, how it is work with design accelerator components.
Type I - plate between 2 webs
0. Select start plane.
1. Select start face.
2. Select second face or create thickness.
3. Placement start bottom face connection plate
4. Create height dimensions or stretch up plate.
Type II - plate placement in a corner of metal frame, for example between webs and chord.
1. Select start plane 2. Create thickness plate or stretch thickness 3. Select 1 face 4. Select 2 face 5. Create dimension A or stretch face 6. Create dimension B or stretch face 7. Add edge 1 and move edge or create dimensions 8. Add edge 2 and move edge or create dimensions 9. Add edge 3 and move edge or create dimensions 10 Add edge 4 and move edge or create dimensions
Type III - plate placement between webs or top chord.
1. Select start plane 2. Select start face 3. Create thickness plate or stretch thickness 4. Create dimension A or stretch face 5. Create dimension B or stretch face 6. Insert edges (4 edge). 7. Align or place perpendicular to the axis brace
They created Advance Steel for this, but would be great to see more features in frame generator. Or perhaps an add on of Advance Steel into Inventor (like a FEA addon).
