Frame Generator Enhancements

Frame Generator Enhancements

1. How about adding in some plate joints when mitering.

2. It would be nice to have bar grating as an option in Content Center and when using the Frame Generator.

3. An quick way of creating industrial stairs, for platforms and catwalks, made from bar grating stair treads with the nosing already on them.

4. Maybe an automated handrail command.  It could automatically build the top rail, mid rails and toe kicks per the ANSI standards for platforms and stairways.

In general, there needs to be a lot more structural steel component automation.  If it can be done in AutoCAD, why not Inventor?  Companys that design complete equipment with steel structures could benefit from this.

Yes, I would love to have more usable components as well, like coupling plates and end caps/plates.

Frame generator's biggest weakness is it doesn't allow use of metadata (= exported parameters) in the editing tools. Also, you can't use frame generator part parameters anywhere for fear if you change your design, they will disappear, and due to "cyclical dependency" if imported into the base part (for those who use base parts to build equipment and weldments).

We're not asking for StruCAD, but for something  more "robust" that we can do small structural work and INTEGRATE the frame generator into the rest of the basic modeling process. The use of metadata is the key here.
