In factories, it's easier for handling when laser cutted parts don't need to be upturned for bending operations.
So, it would be nice for us if the upper face of a flat pattern was choosen as the one which has the most up bends.
Denis this is an easy thing to do ahead of time.
Before you flatten out the part pick a side like this.
If you pick this side and hit unfold your bend will be up.
If you pick this side your bend will be down.
It is that easy to pick up and down bends before you place in drawing...
What you are doing is picking the side you want up in the flat pattern in the idw..
Hope this helps..
I already knew and use that methode.
But I use a macro to unfold my part and enter information in the iProperties.
The problem is that this methode doesn't work when you unfold with vba.
Sure it does just have the VBA ask to select face before unfold I have mine done with ilogic it ask to pick the face I want up. VBA can do same I did have VBA code but went to ilogic now..
I will look to see if I still have it but not sure lost a hard drive....
But in all fairness you did not state you was using a mico or vba.
