FLAT PATTERN WITH IN THE DRAWING.idw!!!!!!

HI

When in DRAWING.idw, I bring in a part with Create/Base, select relevant part, (Drawing View/ Sheet Metal View) and the Flat pattern is greyed out (part was not flat patterned at design stage). Is there anyway that I can flat pattern within (Drawing View/ Sheet Metal View) and not have to going to the part and checking it out from vault, flat pattern part, save and then re-check in.  I know that the part needs to be check out and there maybe more complex parts that will require the user to be in the part, but for simple pieces this would be a great time saver!
