Designate a Part as a Weld

Designate a Part as a Weld

.

Might sound bonkers, but the welds inside Weldments aren’t always the most stable, don’t always produce what you want and sometimes don’t work.

Creating a part is the next best thing, but this part would be included in the Weld Report that can be exported. If the BoM is change to make it a Reference Part is doesn’t show up on the Mass of CoG, but it doesn’t want to be in the Parts List.

Further, if Inventor used the correct symbolism for cross-sectioned welds – a black fill – this would occur automatically when the assembly was sectioned.

By designating a part as a weld it would solve a lot of problems until Adsk get around to improving welds.
