wish list

I have very few things that I'd add to IV, but it would be a real nice
feature if IV didn't crash everytime I moved a file in explorer.

I have a wish...

I wish people didn't blame their Windows problems on CAD products. I see
people using Windows for years before even thinking of a fresh new install.
And I bet they have 56 other toys running next to their clock at start up.
It's amazing what people will tolerate (and spend hours complaining about)
before reinstalling a crisp, clean new install of the OS. I know a guy who
still has his first load of Win98 on his computer, and complains that it has
fatal errors all day. He has had so may other programs on and off of it that
his Windows is begging to be retired. But he refuses. He would rather smack
his monitor all day. He must have illegal software that he has no disks for!
Haha!

But seriously, if using Windows Explorer crashes/corrupts your programs,
it's time to format C:\ and ... REINSTALL WINDOWS. Especially if this
problem is unheard of elsewhere.

"But if I reinstall it, then I'm not productive for 1.5 hours". Boo Hoo! How
much productivity are you losing now? Bite the bullet. Stay after work if
it's that important.

I'm surprised people haven't blamed Inventor for power outages.

Is this happening while you are in Windows Explorer or does it happen when
you move the file while the File>Open dialog is open?

Both. I guess I also should have said delete instead of (or in addition to)
move.

Every once in a while you get someone in this group that tends to talk a lot
without knowing what they are talking about.

I'm not your buddy with pirated software and an messy, inadequate, oveloaded
OS. The operating system is Win2k SP2 that has only been installed for 8
months, reinstalled when as soon as I took it out of the box, with no
programs other than volume control running in the tray and nothing in
startup.

I don't spend hours complaing about anything. This is practically the only
way that I can get IV to crash regularly. I'm not whining about losing
productivity either. It just annoys me that this happens. I'd rather IV just
lock all IV files so they can't be moved, copied or deleted while IV is
running.

I'm not going to REINSTALL WINDOWS, because I'm not convinced that it is a
Windows problem. It will happen everytime with IV, but never happens with
Word, Excell, MDT or AutoCAD. It's the same deal if you use design assistant
while IV is open. I also don't think that the problem is unheard of
elsewhere. The last time I talked about DA crashing IV, I got responses from
people that knew what I was talking about.

I didn't say 'this product (edited)', 'I'm switching to SW if this isn't
addressed' or any of the other usual lines. I'd just like to see the problem
addressed in the future. I'm sorry if that bothered you.

I have a wish too:

I wish the .idw would translate PERFECTLY to .dwg. I also wish that Autodesk Inventor was mnore compatible with Autodesk AutoCAD 2004 and Autodesk Mechanical Desktop 2004.

I realize that both of these wishes area abit extreme, but hopefully by version 10.1 of IV this will be a reality.
IV2011 Sim
Win7 (x64)
Dual Xeon X5570, 12GB DDR3
