Where would be a good place to compare them? If we start a conversation there,
they will say "Please do not discuss other software here...." I was looking for
ways IV is better then the competition. I thought it would help convince those
that are looking to go elsewhere to stay with IV. (After the "Pro" discussions,
I figured anything to help IV would be good)

Tim,

"Friendly" you say? Ha. Ha. Ha. Maybe amongst us engineers we can say that but don't let our bosses know. Ha. Ha.

I know you feel our pain. It really is a let down to have parts that can not be modeled. I doubt Autodesk understands how complicated it is to design lighting components. Reflectors are okay. Lenses are very, very difficult.

Are you guys using Release 7.0.? How is the Streamline thingy working out?

Yup we can keep it friendly at our level and the bosses

don't need to know.
We are hoping to move to MDT 2004

as soon as possible. The Viewer (VoloView) issue has put that on

hold for a spell.

We did think IV 7 was the answer but Edge Face Drafts and

AMCOMBINES still cause havoc in IV. I have not checked Surf Cuts

lately. We planned to simply refference MDT parts in IV

and maintain them in MDT. New stuff designed in IV.

Parent company is doing most with Streamline. Don't have

to mention the name.(g)Oh well, back to software support

installations and setups. I get to od very little Modeling

etc any more. Troubleshoot bad files now and then and keep

the updates and survice packs moving through. OOPS got

to resolve that viewing issue also.

Tim
Point me to an example of a casting on your web site that "can't be
modeled" I would like to take a swing at it! Might be fun.
