trace utility

Does anybody know of any program that allows you to trace a parameter or dimension throughout the entire data set, showing what files it's used in and maybe even gives a family tree of embeds?

Same for tracing ipt and iam files in the entire data set.

Anything like that out there?

Thanks ...

"Tracing" ipt & iam files is easily done through Vault.

Mike,

Thanks for that tip.

I don't use Vault, and won't.

Plus, does vault show the parameters and dimensions like I asked?
Do you know of an add-in utility that does that?

Don't know of anything out there that will trace parameters or dimensions.

Do you think this may be a good utility for more than a few people?
I need it b/c of skeletal modeling.
I found that any more than 3 levels deep causes the program to bog down real bad.
But when a model & drg gets real big, things get complicated real quick, even @ 3 levels deep max.
I need it, but wonder if others may be able to use it too?

We do a substatial amount of skeletal modeling, but for our case, I can't see where it would be of benefit to us.

We use a unique skeletal model for each project, and since we use Vault, we can track parts and assemblies.

May be of beneit to others out there though.
