there is no option to copy solid in inventor part.... copy object option can be used to get a surface, composite or group.... what is the difference between these three????
what i usualy do is copy the solid as a surface (using copy object option), move it (using move bodies option) and use sculpt option to make it into solid and hide the surface...
this is available in pro/e.... why its not there in inventor??
Attach your file here.
Sounds like you are using the hard way.
dude... if i use pattern option to get a copy of the solid.... its multiplying the features which makes the software dead slow.... i did this and i found that my system took alleast 5mins to edit a feature.... and takes 10 mins to update the changes.... i am using the latest work station with 16gb ram and very high graphics.....
its like woking in a 60 mb file with more than 500 features in it....
thats why i prefer using copy object option....
DUDE first law computer files added more data = get bigger file
PATTERN IS A SHORTCUT to create numerous copies an to save having to MANUALLY copy numerous times
dude... if u do pattern, its multiplying your FEATURES...... suppose i have 20 features and if i do pattern say 50 items.... the features will be multiplied which makes (20x50) = 1000 features..... file size will go to 60mb.... even in the latest workstations with graphics card its dead slow....
if the same thing is done using copy option.... (20 feature + 50 copies) = 70 feature.... file size will be only 3mb max....
where is 60mb and where is 3mb....????
if there was a direct copy option for solid.... it would be good.... as its there in PRO/E....
