steelplt.png not in correct path - cannot check in dwg

I have a "steelplt.png" file that Inventor tells me is not in the correct library path.  The problem is that it is in the correct path as defined by the project file.  I cannot check in dwg because the "steelplt.png is not in the correct library path".  Has anyone seen this and how to fix?

Try this:

Open the part - assign a different appearance (one that dows not include a bitmap)

Purge the Document appearance (so the appearance containing steelplt.png gets removed)

Try checking it in.

I'm guessing it's a 3rd party bitmap (something you've added) and it's in the appearances bitmaps folder rather than in a library folder that is referenced by the Inventor project.

Thanks, Pete.  I believe this appearance was attached to the dwg file (linked actually) and once removed, we were able to check in.  Now to find out why it became linked and how it happened.
