scaling a 3d assembly or part

I am trying to place a component into an assembly, but the person who created this component did it as a metric (mm) part, using US (inch) dimensions. So every time I insert these components, there are 25.4 times too large. I have tried many things, such as changing the units of the part, but Inventor just converts the numbers to the units I do not want. I am wondering if there is some way to change my units without changing the actual numbers, or if not, is there a way I can scale my 3d components either 25.4 times larger or smaller? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could derive the component and apply the correct scale to the new item.

You could derive it into a new part and scale the derived part
