you rename a part you must do it at the highest level
so if you have an
IDW of the assembly that is what you want to open in the Design Assistant and
rename the part in the IDW file then no problems.

Boy, I wish I knew that before. I would have
thought the IAM was the highest level. Could have saved me about 15 hours of
extra work + anxiety. Does the help or manual say that anywhere?

you need to rename the browser manually or you could download the
browser
rename tool from my web site. I think Kent and or Sean and
others
have browser rename tools on their sites as well.
