"An unnamed file contains an incorrect path" IGS files "Inventor2010"

When i attempt to open an IGS file i get "an unnnamed files contains an incorrect path"

  1. I thought it could have been a corrupted file but its not.
  2. Tried to create my own IGS file (successful) attempted to open that and failed.
  3. Downloaded an IGS file from Autodesk, failed as well.
  4. I was having issues opening other files but i updated the video drivers on my Dell M6600. Fixed that issue.

Any idas would be helpful? i dont really want to pay $200 to Autodesk to assist.

thanks,

Repair Install?

May not work, but worth a try.

1. How do you know it is not corrupted if you can't open it?

2. How do you know you were successful creating  if opening failed?

Did you follow the Autodesk document for Clean Uninstall when you did the uninstall/reinstall?

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13187758&linkID=9242018

Did you turn off UAC and anti-virus during reinstall?

Do you have Options set to not create html report?

Attach an IGES that YOU created here.

I am having the guy who uses Inventor to send me the file. Will you test it on your end? please check my answers in red.

1. How do you know it is not corrupted if you can't open it?

I dont, we only have one user using inventor, so i will send it to you and see if you can open.

2. How do you know you were successful creating if opening failed?

That i am not sure, we were able to create it without any errors.

I don't recall if it was in 2010.

Select file to import (but don't open yet).

Click Options

You might have to search around here for a Registry edit for 2010 if it was not available in the dialog box.

There was a problem caused by this report generation on some machines.

JD, was it a registry edit or environment variable you are reffering to?
