perforated sheet

I want to show a portion of a sheet metal part with perforations. Adding
hundreds of holes to a part in the model doesn't work, overloads inventor.
I tried to hatch a sketched region in the idw, but I didn't see a hatch
style that looks like holes. Any Ideas are much appreciated.

If you want it in the part file: How about creating a texture of the hole,
creating a face where you want the perf. using split tool, then slapping the
texture on using face color?

www.cbliss.com has a texture page and links to other texture sites.

not sure if you will find anything but it's worth a try.

Can you get the texture to print on the flat
pattern view of the.idw?

it becomes part of the IPT so it should print just fine.

Not if it's not a shaded view.... 😞
Workaround: Sketch the holes.

Thanks Dave,

I haven't used any textures yet so I didn't know that.

I'll have to remember that.

Mike: The Help files have detailed info on this.

-open Help
-on the Index tab type 'texture'
-double-click 'texture'
-select 'create and apply custom textures'
