What program are you trying to use for screen captures?
Alt Print Screen?
Windows Snipping Tool?

Uninstall what? Inventor?
It sounds like all of your problems I would describe as "unconventional".
Do you have an experienced IT person who could clean your machine from scratch?
I recommend returning the HDD to OOTB configuration.
Install all Windows Updates.
Install graphics card updates.
Install MS Office and run Excel at least once.
Turn off anit-virus and UAC.
Reboot the machine.
Install Inventor and verify that all is well. (actually you might run some hardware tests first on HDD and Memory)
Install all Service Packs and Updates for your version of Inventor.
Create a Windows Restore Point.
Since I have no idea of the history of what has been installed/uninstalled on the HDD (and as I recall you are running an older release of Inventor that would seem to indicate the machine might have an accumulated history) this might be the fastest way to "clean house" so to speak.
You must recognize that the problems you are experiencing shouldn't be accepted as normal?
The behavior (actually multiple behaviors) you describe sound very unusual to me.
Everything points to a confounding variable of some sort that needs to be eliminated.
It would help to know what O/S and system spec's you have.
Inventor uses Excel for Hole and Thread and requires that it be run at least once so that Excel can be registered and the Microsoft EULA be accepted.
Did you follow all the pre-requesites when you installed Inventor.
1.) Logged in with Admin Priviledges
2.) UAC slider was set to it's lowest setting
3.) Depending on what type of A/V software you are running, it may need to be disabled for Inventor to register properly.
Odd, that IV is calling for that much memory, I would be included to use the ADSK un-install tool and remove IV, reboot the system and re-install. You might try re-registering IV before and see if that helps. Try logging in as a different user (could be a bad user profile).
Register Inventor:
1) Press [Windows] key to open Windows' start page
2) Type "cmd" to find "Command Prompt" > right mouse click on it > select "Run as administrator"
3) On "Administrator: Command Prompt" window, type cd "c:\program files\autodesk\Inventor 2014\bin" > Enter
4) Type inventor /install > Enter
5) Wait for 1 min (inventor will be executed background then exit silently)
Resetting an Inventor User’s Local Environment
Issue:
Inventor used to work and now it or parts seem to have an issue.
Solution:
We have found that fully resetting the users environment will force Inventor to rebuild the users
environment from scratch resolves many of these type of issues.
The steps are as follows (Please substitute as appropriate for your version):
1. Exit Inventor
2. Open Regedit
3. Rename
a. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\Current Version
b. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\Current Version.org
4. Rename
a. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion0.0
b. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion0.0.org
5. Rename
a. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion18.0
b. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion18.0.org
6. Exit Regedit
7. Rename
a. C:\Users\USERID\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2014
b. C:\Users\USERID\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2014.org
8. Rename
a. C:\Users\hollanb\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Inventor 2014
b. C:\Users\hollanb\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Inventor 2014.org
9. Start Inventor and test.
Note:
RegistryVersion18.0 = Inventor Release 2014
RegistryVersion17.0 = Inventor Release 2013
RegistryVersion16.0 = Inventor Release 2012
RegistryVersion15.0 = Inventor Release 2011
RegistryVersion14.0 = Inventor Release 2010
If your using the default print screen you'll need to open something like Paint, then select the paste option from the top left. Save As select PNG. Then all you got to do is find the file and use the options above to ether insert or attach.
I will explain 2 techniques for screen capture (what version of Windows are you running)?
Go to the Windows "globe" icon in lower left corner of screen and click on it.
Just above that start typing Snipping....
And above that under Programs you should see Snipping Tool - click on that.
This will load the Windows Snipping Tool for doing screen captures.
The alternative techinque
Hit the Print Screen key upper left corner of the keyboard to capture entire screen to the Windows Clipboard
(or Alt Print Screen for an active window/dialog) and then start Paint as shown above.
Ctrl v to copy the contents of the Windows Clipboard into Paint.
Save the file (and pay attention to where you are saving it) as a PNG file and then attach the file here.
Didn't you just request an elaboration on how to use Paint to do a screen capture?
Message #11?
Did I miss something?
and from Message #1 " its been a nightmare (trying to screen capture is beyond difficult with this program)"
Can you elaborate?
