Solidworks has a mate types Width, Symmetry. What is inventor's equivalent? Does anybody know?

There are no direct equivalents that I am aware of. For width if the faces are parallel but for some reason not symmetrical about a base plane you can create a user workplane by selecting the parallel faces. Inventor will place a workplane midplane between the faces that you can use to mate. For symmetry use mirror or if not applicable create a parameter to be used as offset distance.

The following was taken from Inventor 2014 help. Works just like the solidworks symmetry mate, but no width constrant yet.

The Symmetry constraint positions two objects symmetrically according to a plane or planar face.
On the ribbon, click Assemble.
In the Place Constraint dialog box, under Type, click Symmetry constraint.
Select the first geometry to constrain.
Select the second geometry to constrain to the first selection.
Use Select Other to cycle through geometry.
Select the symmetry plane.
If Show Preview is selected, observe the effects of the applied constraint. If either component is adaptive, constraints are not previewed.
Click Apply to continue to place constraints or click OK to create the constraint and close the dialog box.

Of course Inventor 1014 didn't exist back in 2008.

Yea, I didn't notice the date until i posted. Width and Symmetry were SolidWorks 2007 why did it take 7 years for autodesk to add symmetry to inventor? How can we put in enhancement requests. It seems like I always have to use workarounds.

Hi mikeweb74,

You can share your ideas about how to improve Inventor with the Development Team at the IdeaStation link:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

I have found that it is best to provide sample data sets when appropriate.

There's already one (at least) for adding the equivalent of a width mate. Find it and add your "kudos" (vote) to it.

I see symmetric but not width mate.
