inventor r8 sever crash-took down windows

Crashed twice building a new simple part made from six extrusions. On
inventor crash the error detection tried to send message to Autodesk. After
about 5 sec. I lost all mouse and full fuction of computer totally dead.
ctrl+alt+del would not fuction to kill rogue appliction. PC on/off button
wouldn't work. Had to crawl underdesk and pull power. I'm switching back to
7 for now. Any word on 1st service pack.

What graphics card do you have. I had a similar issue that turned out
to be an incompatibility between my Oxygen VX1 card and a motherboard
with an Intel 850? chipset, even though I only experienced the problem with
either AutoCAD or Inventor (6 and 7). Oxygen's website had a registry
fix for the problem though.

FYI, if you hold the on/off button for a few seconds it will eventually turn
off (at least for the most part) that way you don't need to crawl under the
desk.

Funny, I had this very same thing happen to me this morning...but I'm running Rev6. I too was in an assy but with a lot more parts (est. 40). Nothing would take it down other than the "under the desk" routine.
