inventor 2015 - issue with bolt connections - cannot generate some items

Hi,

When i am using bolts connections, there is always a nut, screw, or washers that is not generated.

When doing my set up everything is shown in green, then i have an error and only few items are shown.

In the case shown on picture if i remove the spring lock washer then the bolt will be generated. (bolt lenght don't have any influence)

If if switch size from Ø1/2 to Ø1/4, everything will works (Bolt, lock, flat).

If anyone has an idea I would be really appreciate it

Thank you

Best Regards

Sebastien

Are Content Center Parts coming from a Custom CC Library or Standard Library? If they are coming from a custom CC library, can you reproduce the issue with a standard CC library parts?

It may be a good idea to install Update 1 for Inventor 2015 if you have not yet done so. The download link is below.

Thanks,

HI thank you for your answer.

I made a try with custom and regular librairy and same results for same product.

I have seen the items that could be generated are coming after a spring lock. When i am using the standard librairy called : regular gelical spring lock washers (inch) it doesn't work, when i switch it for an other spring lock lock, it's ok.

Really curious

I don't seem to be able to reproduce this issue. When I use a Regular Helical Spring Lock Washer from Standard CC library, all components are generated in the Bolted Connection. Take a look at the below screenshots and let me know if I'm missing a step or a setting.

Have you by any chance changed the default Solve option for Bolted Connections? See the below link for detail.

Would it be possible to create a Screencast of the issue and share it here?

You can get the Screencast program from the below link.

Thanks,

Jus some more hing to add :

Yesterday we have transfered librairy to our vault servor, we took the standard librairy from Autodesk web site in order to have MDF files.

My problem with bolting connecting was already happened before that, when i was using librairy installed from inventor USB key.

I made a try with my collegue computer, he has inventor standard 2015., and he doesn't have this problem.

Do you have any difficulty placing the regular helical spring lock washer into an assembly (e.g. using the Place from Content Center command in the Assemble ribbon)?

Do you have Update 1 for Inventor 2015 installed? Does your colleague have Update 1 installed?

Update 1 for Inventor 2015:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/update-1-fo...

Is the colleague using the same Vaulted Project and therefore, the same Content Center libraries as you?

If so, perhaps the issue is with your local environment. You may consider temporarily disabling your anti-virus software to see if the issue is ongoing. Another diagnostic procedure you can run, is to have another Windows User Account log into your machine and see if they can reporduce this problem.

I hope that helps. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks,

Hi Nathan

Here is a sum up :

- I tried to place this lockwasher with the place from content center and it failed again

- I tried it to an other project

- I have installed the update according to your recommandation.

- We were working before yesterday on local computer, so each libraries were not the same

- We have downloadedand installed the libraries from autodesk web site in order to set our libraries to vault yesterday and result is the same.

- there is no other windows account on my computer, so i can't make the test.

- All softwares : inventor, and vault has been bought with licences, there is no crack for any other kind of software, or any other kind of "torrent" software that could interfere with this computer.

-I am using inventor professional and my colleague using inventor 2015.

- We have a previous version of inventor 2014 already installed, could it be that ?.

- I don't remember this problem begun when i have upgraded my soft from  release 2014 to 2015.

I will make an other test tomorrow as we have a meeting, to try the same operation on the same project eith my collegue computer, just to see it and keep you updated on it.

Thank you again for your help and patience.

Making a check in, check out again on my computer and lock washer is still there, Then doing en edit, and just clikc ok, and it's not working again 🙂

So i have no idea anymore know on what to do, to be able to work proprely with inventor....

If you have verified the same Vaulted CC library works from another computer on the network, then we know that the Vaulted CC library works and that the issue seems to be specific to your machine.

Is the Vault stored on a central server?

A couple of thoughts I have are:

  • This may be related to a network issue that is only affecting your machine (e.g. bad router, bad cable, etc..).
  • Do you have any different security software or firewalls enabled on your machine that is not installed on the other machine? Are there any other application that may cause a conflict (e.g. Inventor Add-Ins, etc?)
  • Perhaps this is related to the privileges/access rights for your Windows User Account,
  • There may be a problem with the current installation on your machine, you may want to try running the Inventor Reset Utility. to see if it will help. The other option is to perform Clean Uninstall and Re-install Inventor. When re-installing. please lower the User Account Control Settings in your preferences to the Never Notify level. Also, disable any anti-virus software and be sure to log in with an administrator account.

I hope these suggestions are helpful. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks,

Hi Nathan

So i have made a reset. I have also imported my application option profile before.

Doing a test right after reset it's all good

when importing my profil, it is not working anymore.

So i made some modification ot my profile and performe other tests after each modifications on the application options menu, so the reason why it was not working is located on the tab content center, the check box called Refresh out-of-date standards parts during placement was checked, and that's why it was not working.
