Good Morning all,
I always have to show interferance and tangent edges for our drawings.
Under edit view.
I have to select;
Display Options,
Then I need to activate Interference and Tangent Edges.
Is there a way to set this as the default on view creation.
-thanks

You need to make the changes in the template file.
Open template file(default locaation is C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2011\Templates)
Place view
Edit view
Make changes
Delete view
Save file

Is this possible?

You can't.. gcoopers suggestion works with some things but not what you are asking about.
There's an ideastation topis here for you to vote on if you are still active on the forums http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Inventor-IdeaStation/Add-the-option-of-Tangent-edges-as-default-to-app...

I know it used to work for me in Inventor 2016.
I don't remember haw I managed to activate it.
Now I have 2017 and it is not working properly.
It is not showing the tangent edges in the first view, but is showing in the following views. Why??
Please look at the screencast to understand what I mean.
Thank you.
Hi Guys,
I think there is a little bit misunderstanding how the drawing view options work. The drawing view options (Model State, Display and so on) persist on a per view type and per source doc type basis. For example, you create a base view of an assembly with hidden line removes but interference edges/tangent edges showing. The next base view you create from an assembly will retain the same options. But, if you create a view from a part, the options will need to be set again.
The behaviors are a bit subtle but they are there for a reason. If we let users configure the default options for all these view types, the current UI framework would require a nested and big dialog. It would be confusing and cumbersome.
Many thanks!
@johnsonshiue Now working in 2023 and it seems something has changed. before all the isometric views had tangent edge turned on, and the others didn't. now it seems the isometric views it has also been turned off. Is it really not possible to just set it as on by default..?
