insert autocad

I want to insert a autocad dwg into a sketch. The wizard starts and when I
get to the constrain endpoints I get a error "An unsupported operation was
attempted" Am I missing something here?

It should work. Check over the AutoCAD drawing and make sure things are as clean as
possible. If you can't get it zip it up and post it to customer files and someone will
see if they can get it to work.

Do you get the error with any dwg or just the one?

Do you have VoloView Express installed? If so did you install it before you installed IV?

Try doing the operation with the files being on the local hard drive instead of across a network.

My only other idea is to run a Repair on your IV installation and if that doesn't fix it then do a full uninstall/reinstall. Remember to delete the Inventor directory after uninstalling. If you are comfortable with working on the Registry then try cleaning it out as well before reinstalling.

I guess you could also post a DWG file to CF to see if someone else can import it just to make sure your DWGs aren't the problem.

I'm having the exact same problem ... and I've got VoloView installed.

When I try to import a file, where it lists the layers of the cad drawing, it is empty ... is it not even recognizing the file?

I've tried it with many different files, I even tried to just draw a circle and save it as it is, and try importing it, but it still doesn't work ...

I have exactly the same problem. I haveAutocad 2002, Inventor 5.0 and Voloview Express Ver 2 (Build 627) installed and all files are on the same hard disk.
