Can someone tell me how to fix a broken link to an excel table in an idw file general table?
Here's why it broke:
I changed the folder name and heirarchy of the project
i expected the idw tables to find their parent excel files in the same folder with a new name, but they didn't.
i could find nothing in the help file or on this forum for fixing broken excel links
i could not find anything in rmb menu or otherwise in the program command to fix this problem
please advise
thanks ... chris h
I'm having a similar problem. After renaming, (which is a joke) I can right click on each component and "change source" to
redirect to the newly named excel file. The thing is, I'd like to update them all at once. There has to be a way, otherwise,
the whole practice is ridiculous. Have you found out any way to do this?
Thanks,
Scott
sorry, never found a fix
it would be nice if it was in Design Assistance, but it isn't, far as I know
you might try the KwikCad web site and ask Kent if he has a program or knows of one that you might buy for a few bux:

Hi simmons01,
I think this add-in might be worth having a look at:
Hierarchy Clone for Inventor
http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/ADN_plugins/catalog/
This plugin can be used to copy and rename Inventor IAM/IDW/DWG file along with any files it references (including substitute parts and OLE references).
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

Thanks for the link!
I'll try it.
