idw drawing views always want to update

Why is it that individual views in an .idw always need to be updated? I will
highlight a view, the thunderbolt icon lights up, I choose to update it, the
view in the browser turns red and then the view up dates. if I highlight the
view again it tells me the view needs to be updated again. Not a really big
deal but really annoying. any way to fix this? Thanks

Are the views in the browswer red? That means that the views need updating.
I think the lighting bolt comes on whenever you select a view regardless of
whether it needs updating. It is just saying you can update if you want.

I have had the same problem, no lightning bolt, and the views are fully
precise.

Guys,

I generally search for answers before posting. This is one such find but not answered.

This is actually a 10 year old thread, but the issue still continues..

You create a view in an idw file for a ipt file. Keep the Manage tab active. Click the view & hit update (Thunder bolt)

The view updates and the thunder bolt greys out. Good so far. Click out side the view for once and then click the view again to make it active. The update icon becomes avilable. Why?

Why should a file/view need update when its already up-to-date? It makes sense to have it when there is a real change in the part and the the view need update.

This is as designed behavior. Update in Drawing Manager behaves similar as "Rebuild All' in part environment - it forces view to recompute even if the model didn't change after last update. This is helpful when a view needs to be updated manually after a bug fix released or so.

Normally views on the active sheet should be updated automatically.

Thanks

That's the design intent that needs a change. Commands should not be available if they aren't needed.

I agree that it should be available when there is bug fix. But don't tell me there is bug fixed every time I take my mouse focus out of the view and click the view again.

Example : (this is one I could think of, I am sure one can co-relate)

Say I go to vault tab within inventor. I can see log-in button is grayed out and log-out button is available. This means that I am already logged in, the only option is to log-out before any body can use login button.

Imagine how it would be to have these two buttons available all the time irrespective of login / logout status.
