.idw always wants .iam updated

Everytime I open on of my drawings, 501547.idw, IV always says, "The
following components referenced by this drawing need to be updated. The
drawing reflects their current design state. 501457-D.iam"

I opened the .iam, did a check-out, and saved it, but still, I get the same
message every time, even if the .iam is open on the screen. Anyone know
what's wrong?

When you opened the iam did you do an update?

I'm seeing this all of the time too. I'm in a single user environment. I
think R6 is doing some funky things in relation to checking the state of
files...

So far everyone who has brought this up with me has solved it by doing a manual update on their assemblies. This has solved a lot of ipn issues over the years to. - Rich

Nope it's not that.  I can have a fully
updated assy open then make an IDW of it and I get the
message.

Not trying to beat the point to death but did you try updating the subassemblies individually too? I have seen this message and after opening ALL my migrated iam files and doing an update I haven't seen it since. Several other coworkers did the same and it eliminated their problems. I guess I REALLY REALLY REALLY want this to be the problem because if it is something else then I'm sure I'll have people lining up to complain in the weeks to come AND I WON'T HAVE A SOLUTION 🙂 - Rich Thomas

These aren't migrated assemblies and they are subs
themselves (so there is no level further down).  I see it frequently and I
can't seem to track down the exact reason why... but something strange is going
on...It's more of an annoyance than a problem but regardless I want to know why
it's happening.

This assembly was created in R6 and consists of
only about 6 .ipts.  All of the .ipts open fine, and to make sure I
checked-out the whole tree and did a save, then checked-in  the whole tree
and still the message comes up.  I have experienced the thing with the
.ipn, but like you say, updating the subs takes care of that. 

 

I wonder if this has anything to do with the
angular dimension in the same drawing won't stay put.  See the CF files
under "Angle dimensions won't stay"
