iam section dissapears when using distance tool

Can anyone tell me how to keep a section view of an iam active when accessing the distance tool? As soon as I click on the distance tool, the half-section disappears. This makes it diffcult to measure relationships from one component to another.  I am using Inventor 2013 which was recently installed on our workstations.

Do you want to measure the distance on the section view? Please note the section view is only for your view but not produce the real objects(point/edge), so you cannot measure the displayed objects on the section view. However, I can keep the section view when accessing the distance tool, may have a problem on your side.

After you create your section RMB and click OK, then RMB again and if the option is still there click OK one more time. For some reason you have to accept the results of the section command twice, and pressing enter only woks for the first one.  It's silly, I know, but it's been a "known problem" for some time now. There's several threads on this here.
