how do I do a variable chamfer

I have a project that just landed on my desk that involves a chamfer around the edge of a sign, but only from a certain point to another certain point fading on both ends to nothing. I now that there is a variable fillet but can the same thing be done on chamfer..????

Only using a loft or a Work Plane to split the part. No Variable Chamfer
that I n«know of.

I tried lofting the left over face of the chamfer along the curve to a projected point, but I am guessing that a projected point will not count as a face, seeing as how the create button is grayed out..???

That is great but i am not sure how to terminate the loft on both end to nothing along a curved path?

Maybe even a sweep?

Can you post your part?

I have a part that similar to this except that I
have a radius that fades to nothing on both ends.  I used a loft, but as
you discovered, you can't project the loft to a point.  For this reason, I
projected to a profile that was very tiny, around .0005 in in width &
height.  It appears correctly, and IV counts it as a face, so the loft is
possible.

The radius shown is R.13 and blends to nothing in
.25 in.

Perhaps not the most eloquent solution, but how about an tapered cut
extrusion. See IVCF.

Chris

You really should be asking this in the R6 forum then. By asking in the proper forum it
helps avoid issues like this.
