Same way you make one with more than 8 teeth, maybe?

Actually when you get to small numbers of teeth, it becomes a lot more
complex to do the geometry.
Ole must be on vacation, I would have expected him to jump on this one.
His involute senses must be tingling by now.

Yeah ... I expected Ole to jump in here and save the day. Haven't heard much
out of him lately ... been longer than vacation time since I've heard from
him though.

I agree the geometry is more complex in smaller gears but modeling one (for
other than a hob maybe) is pretty much the same procedure, no?

As far as chain sprockets go less than 11 teeth is frowned on, I am just
imagining the poor mechanics of it Gear teeth I would presume lie along the
same lines? Alright on low power applications, allot I have seen:- starter
motor pinions and clock gears though not exactly low stress. Probably the
physical size is a factor in compact situations. Next year we will have a
whip round for you Larry and send you on hols....like a cargo ship to a
field station above the artic line

Don't forget your computer and a satellite hook up so you can keep up with
Inventor posts, by the way a good set of candles and a sleeping bag wont go
amiss its dark and cold in a deck container and it floats 🙂
