I need to add some geomerty to this part in the flat position.
This is a circuit surface and the only circuit layout available is in the flat pattern.
IV2010 has the fold/unfold options which should allow me to place the circuit layout onto the unfolded part.
If I unfold this part and then refold it, it does not refold correctly.
I thought that it might be because it does not have a flat section in the bend but even adding a flat section does not help.
Am I doing something so far out of the sheet metal range that it's not possible?
Any help, advise or otherwise would be appreciated.
If I just use the "Folded Model" and the "Flat Pattern" from the browser tree, it does work fine.
I need to add circuit traces to the flat pattern. IV2010 has a new feature "Unfold and Refold" that will let you add features to the unfolded part that will remain when refolded. When I use the "Unfold" command and then "Refold", the part does not go back to the orginal folded configuration. Even if I just "Unfold" and "Refold" without any alterations, it does not go back to the original form. I maybe asking for something that is not possible with a cone shape. I'm hoping that it is something I am doing wrong or need to approach it from another direction.
Yes, I did go though that.
If I pick the end of the curve as my fixed surface and then pick the cone or curve as the bend, it unfolds or flattens as it should. If I pick the end and surface to unfold, it does not fold all the way back.
I thought maybe because I did not have a continued surface that was flat that could be the issue so I added a small flat surface from the end of the cone. The results were the same, it does not refold back the orginal shape.
What you you are showing is what I am getting too. The refold does not close the cone or loop back up.
It has a large gap instead of the small gap as in the original before the unfold.
Am I missing something or am I asking for something that the software cannot do?
