foggy view in assembly

Hi

my Inventor has recently started to look foggy in assemblies but its not all the time. its kind of frustrating..... any ideas? a few images attached both take from almost the same view (with a slight movement which removes the fog).

ive been through my settings but i cannot find anything.

i have a good new machine with 8gb ram, a 2ghz processor, 2gb dedicated graphics using windows 7 64 bit.

it doesnt do it in part view

Thanks

Nigel

Looks to me like something to do with your lighting.  Which shadows / reflections do you have enabled?  What material are you using there?

Try disabling all your shadows EXCEPT for ambient shadows - leave those on.

Nigel,

Is this the only assembly you are seeing this condition with?

Can you reproduce this on a different machine?

Are your graphics drivers up to date?

Hi

Yes it is only in the assembly environment. I cannot re-create it on another computer even one that has much less spec than mine. My graphic drivers are up to date and its a brand new strong machine.

I'd like to think it has something to do with my lighting in the assembly environment. i do not however, know how to change my lighting setting in the asembly environment..... i had an issue a while ago where i had a medium wood texture on a unit but i couldnt see it due to brightness. If you could give me a pointer, it might fix 2 problems at once lol.

Thanks

Nigel

Hi,

here is mine. my settings are exactly the same as yours. Im not sure whats wrong then. Notice the fog in background. its really frustrating as there are times when i can barely see for the mist.

Thanks 🙂

Have you checked your document settings? There is a depth dimming option there.

Just a guess...when I turn that on, far edges become dimmer.
