We get many IGES, and STEP files from our customers. They never seem to make any drawings to work with these days, just solids so I need to complete the design and finally drawings to go into MFG.
Seems to me the feature recognition I have been reading about may be useful for me.
I cant seem to find it anywhere to download and try. Does anyone know when it will be released or where I can find it?
I also have the box 2014 suite which I have not yet installed so I am working with 2013 suite.
Thanks
Are you logged in ? What do you see at the top right corner of the screen ? if it shows "Sign In" then you need to log in.
Please provide a screen shot of your browser window.
I just tested on IE, Chrome & Firefox.
Thanks,
Chris
I am signed in in the upper right corner.
I'm logged in and my subscription is current.
Ok Thanks - since your subscription appears to be current you should have the option to download this - I'll do some further investigation with the back-end server team to see what's going wrong.
Thanks,
Chris
I attached a screen shot of my subscription. I am also active.
I will standby until you guys resolve the issue.
Thanks
FYI, it is working today.
Yes I see that the blue FREE button has been activated.
Were you able to download it.
I'm having trouble running it. Only the MSI file downloaded, but when I try to run it, it wont work.
Yes, I had to go to Add-in Manager to load it before it would work. I also restarted Inventor after I checked load automatically.
I did that and it shows as being loaded but should'nt I see a tab within Inventor?
I opened a IGES file and a STEP file but dont see any FR tab.
Maybe this will help.
Getting Started
To enter the Feature Recognition environment, you can either accept to do feature recognition when you are asked when you open a part with a base feature only, or right click on a base feature and choose Recognize Features command.
Usage
The Feature Recognition application converts neutral 3D CAD models, such as STEP, SAT, or IGES solids, into full-featured Autodesk® Inventor® models. Feature mapping could be executed automatically or interactively as needed to maintain design intent.
Feature Recognition can be activated using several methods. You can start Feature Recognition when opening a file or after the document is open.
This is what you should see when you open a dumb solid. Selecting yes will give you a Feature Recognition tab.
Nope,
I attached some screen shots.
Not sure whats wrong.
Your second screen shot shows it as unloaded. Click on the box next to Loaded.Unloaded.
OK, See attached. Looks like I am where I should be. Just a matter of teaching myself how to utilize it.
Thanks for the help.
I wonder why you don't have the tab?
Thanks for your help here, Ray - I was busy compiling a similar reply without noticing that you'd beat me to it
Regarding the issue yesterday with not having access to download that was due to the fact that some specific combinations of subscription entitlement had not been added to the App Store - we corrected that overnight.
Good to see that this is now working. I'll see if it's possible to update this so that's the additional steps to activate the add-in after install are avoided.
Thanks,
Chris
No problem.
Yep,
I was wondering the same thing.
Where is the feature tab?
Yes - there should be a FR tab. Have you tried unloading the CAM 2012 add-in you have there ? Then exit/'restart Inventor.
You could also right click on the grey area to the right of the ribbon & try "Reset Ribbon", under Ribbon Appearance.
Thanks,
Chris
