feature color?

Group,
Right now I'm trying to model something that somewhat touches the area of
mold design. It's a sqare part with lots of holes at various angles that are
difficult to imagine and difficult to see on screen. In shaded mode, I gave
the different hole systems different colors (blue for cold water, red for
hot fluid, and the like). Sliced view ould not slice them all, as they run
in various angles&planes. Now if I switch to wireframe mode, all features
display in the part color. So I'm only seeing a mess of lines - absolutely
useless.

Is there a graphic setting I'm missing for to get the feature colors in
wireframe display?

Regards,

No, the wireframe has only one color. But if you make the part color
transparent, the different colors of features and faces shine thru.

Once I had a similar problem in MDT (long ago and MDT was not
able to use different feature-colors at that time) so I used a trick you
can also use in Inventor. Make a copy of the part without the holes,
assemble both parts, so that they are congruent (at the same place)
and derive this assembly into a new part subtracting the part with the
holes from the part without holes. You will get a modell of your fluid
system as a reference. In Inventor that model has (what surprise )
the colors of the hole features.

An other trick: In perspective mode you can travel thru the holes
of the part. But that needs a bit of practice and a good adjustment
of the viewing parameters (ctrl/shift-zoom, orbit center ...).
