change color in ipt from iam

Is there a way to change the color of parts inside the ipt file, but do it from inside an iam?

I want to change groups of part-colors from w/i an iam, but drive it down to the ipt level, so I don't have to open up each and every individual ipt, and change each one manually one at a time. I have about 1000 parts that need to change color, but want to do it in groups.

Thanks ...

You can change Materials in bulk from the BOM Manager, so if the colors are associated with materials, you're in business.  But I don't see any way to do colors alone.  Since Material is saved as an iProperty, you can add the Material column in the BOM Manager, change one and then drag/fill the rest.  But Color is not an iProperty and therefore can't be manipulated in the BOM Manager.  That would be very useful in this case.

Another possibility is iLogic or VBA-- I think this would be a pretty simple program, but only if you already knew the basics.

Sam,

Thanks for your input.

1. I don't know how to program.

2. Do you know anybody who has a program that changes colors only (not material color)?

Thanks ...

1. Sounds as if it's time to learn....

2. Sorry, I don't have any leads for you.  There are some smart programmers that hang around here, and I'm pretty sure it's a simple program, but I don't know how to make it happen for you.  For what it's worth, I believe that iLogic didn't exist in 2010-- you're stuck with VBA or Visual Studio.

Sam,

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have time or energy for it anymore.

I used to write autolisp programs, but I even forgot all that. Incidentally, all my lisp programs still work on 2010 even though I wrote them in resease 13 days (Win3.1).

iLogic exists for 2010, but you have to have "subscription" to get it.

I tried getting it from Adsk for a price, but they insisted I "subscribe".

I suppose that's their way of "making me an offer i can't refuse".

However:

"Homie don't play that (doink!)."

Cheers ...
