been gone..what's up with pro?

I have been on vacation the last two weeks and wondered if Adesk has
responded anymore to the pro issues?

Not trying to stir things up but just trying to get back up to speed.

all that Pro stuff. Bob

The last I've heard is that a single part FEA module is on the roadmap for
AIP (not AIS unless someone insists).
Another thing is that they are aware of the need to be able to have both AIS
and AIP on the same installation pulling the different licenses from the
server. That'll make things more eatable (for me at least)...
The AIP and AIS price is the same, but subscription is more expensive on
AIP.

Wait a minute... FEA in IVPro only? I thought Autodesk has been insisting for the last several weeks that IV "Pro" will only include modules that would be used "infrequently" by the typical IV user. Is there a single user out there who would NOT use FEA on virtually every part they design if it were readily available in the software. I discussed this very issue with my VAR last week. They were given the same message from AD that we were... that IV "lite" would include all features that the typical users would need. I specifically told them "If IV Pro comes out with a basic FEA capability that is not included in my subscription for IVS, that will be the final straw...

Here goes Autodesk making up its own rules on what
is considered uncommon.

The Adesk rep. told us at a user group meeting I attended last week that
right now it was on the roadmap for AIP, but not yet decided if they should
change the direction towards AIS .
"Are you willing to pay more to have this included in the basic package?" he
asks...
"Don't you think you owe us something after the Iv7 release?" I respond.
"Maybe so" he replies, "I promise that you won't be disappointed of the
improvements in Iv8".

So the cost of new AIS and AIP for you is the same? the only difference is
the cost of subscription?

I haven't checked the truth in it - I'm really not interested in AIP...
The exact words was something like "basically same entry-level price as
AIS". The subscription however was about 45% more than AIS. The value of one
of the Pro modules if you should buy it as a 3rd party Software. Makes
sense?

If that is the case then there should be no "up-grade" charge for anyone who
maintains AIS......
