nope no saving down in inventor

you would have to export the files out .step or iges then import back into 2012 but you will lose the feature history

Its as simple as "save copy as" and save it as a step file..

But how many do you have that are in the 2014 format.. And realize what he said.. You WILL loose the feature/history tree (aka model browser) and NOT be able to edit the individual features..

It is ALWAYS a smart idea to backup ALL cad files before migrating and saving those backups so that you can easily revert to them if you need to.

File > Save As > Save Copy As

Under Save as type, select STEP

Click Save

I don't understand what the difference is between 2012/2014 that I would go back to 2012, but you can have both releases installed on the same machine (if you are a student or if you are on subscription).

I noticed that some of your sketches are not dimensioned and that if I add the missing dimensions they do not make logical sense.

I would be be careful with this file.

You will have to start over in 2012 or go back to 2014.

Even if you got these into 2012, it would be very difficult to find what has and what has not been dimensioned.
