angry IV (pink balloons in idw)

I'd rather see pink elephants than pink baloons in IV.
Here is what happened. I completed an IDW that was made up of 4 views of an IAM. it contained a BOM and 1 detail view and 2 section views. The detail view was made from one of the section views. All was fine and hunky dory when I when I left the file early yesterday afternoon. Then my boss wnated ato review the file and I brought it up on the screen. The idw showed with a pink baloon in the detail view and IV was giving me an error stating that the baloon was unattached. This error gave me the option to accept or cancel. I accepted it 3 times then IV locked up making the current IV not active so nothing was selectible on the screen. My only resolve was to go to task manager and end task. does anyone have a recover routine for this file or any suggetions on how to fix this problem?

Let me guess... are the balloons attached to
cylindrical part features?

Looks like you have the same problem that I
have.(just posted)  Do you have sp2 applied?

In SP1 we couldn't make annotations (dimensions,
centerlines, balloons, etc.) stick to any cylindrical feature in a
section view.  The problem was reproducible in certain data sets but I
couldn't create one from scratch and reproduce the problem.  SP2 has seemed
to correct the issue.

... the problem never surfaced until the iam was
dirtied which would cause the idw to update thus resulting in the orphaned
dimensions.  If the iam wasn't dirtied then no problem - in our experience
anyways.

amybe it is time to instal sp2 but the drawing was not complicated so I did not have any trouble redoing it in 1 hour or less so that is what I did.

Thanks to all that replied. We do not have sp2 installed yet. Maybe that is the fix, but as for now I just redrew the idw.

Back before Christmas I was having trouble opening some files too. I was requested to email the files to Autodesk. I got a response today about this problem and progress on my older problem. Loren Jahraus was kind enough to reply so I though I'd post the notice that confirms what all of you are telling me. I just got permission to be the guinee pig and try sp2. Here is a partial copy of Loren's email to me.

I just checked this in SP2, and the assembly opened and updated without a problem. For some reason, our defect tracking database didn't notify me that the defect was fixed.

Again thanks to all who have helped... and on to sp2 I go wish me luck....
