Wrapping to a sphere or dome

Has anybody figured out a way to wrap geometry onto a sphere or dome in Autodesk Inventor 2012. I see the emboss feature doesn't work well, and you can only wrap images using the decal. Any suggestions or help on how to approach this would be greatly helpful.

Thanks!!

Hi dcmorgan,

It depends on what you're trying to achieve, but in many cases you can use the Project to Surface tool in the 3D sketch environment to get your sketch geometry in place, and then use sweep, loft, rib, etc. to create a feature from it.

Start a 3D Sketch> Project to Surface button

Wrap to face animation

Along vector animation

Closest Point animation

If this won't work for your needs, you might provide a bit more information and/or a screen grab to further explain your goal.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
