Worm Feature

Hello all,

Tinkering with the worm gearing in assembly. I have a shaft I would like to reverse engineer. Over all it goes well, but I am curious why I cannot create the worm as a FEATURE (similar to the gearing designer) on just NO MODEL and COMONENT? 

I have replicated all parts of the shaft but if I just use component it throws a new solid over the existing part and makes a real mess. I may resort to drawing a tooth and coiling it....but if someone knows a better way, I would love to hear it.

Hi Talayoe

Have you tried to model the worm by Worm Gears Component Generator regarding your to design requirement? If you have, even it can't generate features like Spur gears component Generator, but you can consider to derive it as a solid body into your shaft , then use  move body command to place it in correct position.
