Well here's a new one I've never seen

Trying to place a shaded view of a rather larger assembly and I get this
error (see attached) followed by the ever so popular hex code memory error
and a crash to the desktop. For what it's worth the assy does contain a
VERY larger derived part (with it's link broken)

Nvidia 900XGL 4403 drivers

Never seen that one either. Is it persistent? Maybe the driver is whacked.

i would start with that last suggestion, sometimes it's easier to uninstall
the video card driver and then reinstall it, to fix a problem.

I've come up with that message a couple of time, including the out of memory
error. I'm pretty sure that it corrected itself after a reboot. It was a
while ago and my memory isn't what it used to be (but I can't remember what
it used to be either!).

I'm thinking it's the derived part. 42MB worth. I have saved the derived
part as a SAT file and brought it back in an now it's only 21MB. We'll see
if I can get an IDW out of this line...?

Works fine on all models expect this one. Have rebooted numerous times.

I just may end up blowing all the dust bunnies out of this machine soon
anyway.

I'll try the driver reinstall. Was curious to know from Autodesk what this
error means exactly.

Used to see this a lot with Quadro2 cards. Never seen it with a Q4 apart from with one that was about to die (I flashed BIOS and
the card went pop).

Try turning your AGP speed down to see if that helps, and reboot. Very annoying. Another possible workaround is to have another
small IDW open so that IV already has an initialised OpenGL window.

Interesting thought. I'll check into it. Of course if I have the model
open in another window it should have an Open OpenGL window right?

I think it's disc format time

I did one driver update to 4403 and have been too scared to do any more updates. the 550xgl I got probably wont get much benefit from any new drivers anyway. pc is running perfect at moment.

only problem I did the iv world cup problem and it gives wrong dimension values in the idw.

True, but it don't seem to want to create the IDW environment and initialise OpenGL. This is the single most frustrating problem
I've ever come across in Inventor, and really makes you want to just throw your PC out of the window.

Sorry for bearing bad news

Placing a view other than the assy then placing the assy seemed to work (I
was still teetering on the edge of crashing however). Thanks for the tip
John.
