I like the separation, but I am using only R6 and
spending time mostly in that group.

Don't
much care for that idea either. I count at least 7 (10 or more now with the
new R6 features) groups that would be created using that method. What about
iProperties questions or really any question that might not fall into any
specific area of IV but is still IV related. Just to grab one from today, what
about Derived part question...part or assy question?

What was so bad about everyone enjoying a single NG on IV? If you needed
specific info you just use the search ability in your NG reader.

My $.02 worth (ok, I've made 2 posts on this subject so I guess I'm up to
$.04). I wouldn't mind if Autodesk considered this a pilot program and
returned us to a single NG sometime.

Search actually works best from the web based side of the
newsgroups. Here's how:

At http://discussion.autodesk.com/ you can search the newsgroups
for previously posted questions. Put keywords in the blank box
and then chose search for "last 3 days, last 2 weeks, last 3
months or all". Search will bring up a list of newsgroup messages
matching the text you provide in the search box.

For the search engine limited to the Inventor groups, go to
http://discussion.autodesk.com/WebX?14@@.ee93814. By using the
Autodesk server search engine you will be searching all available
messages not just those on your local newsgroup reader cache.

Put in the specific words as the search words and chose All for
the time length of the search. Clicking on an individual topic
listed in the search findings will spread out the messages in
that topic in a tree formation. The topics are listed by date with
the newest date at the top.

Hope this helps you in future questions.

In addition the Google archive does not record posts made from the webbased
archive (at least it never did so far) so you will se a lot of answers with
no questions
