Weird Call from Autodesk

I just received a phone call from a lady claiming to be with Autodesk.
She said her records indicated that we use Autodesk software and wanted
to know if we would be interested in their legacy program, in which I
could upgrade to the latest version.

Lets just say that this person was from Autodesk, why does their records
not show that I am already on subscription and that I upgrade every
year. She then wanted my e-mail address, which I didn't give her.

I then tried to clarify this further and I told her I was confused and
that we were already on subscription, why would I need this?

After that She politely said bye and hung up.

Why would Autodesk call directly and not my Reseller? Was this a call
from Autodesk, or someone trying to scam me out of something?

SCAM
I got one of those a while ago. They seemed to just be calling all manufacturing companies and "hoping" they had ADSK products.

I've gotten the same thing for the copy machine at my work. Where they call and "guess" on the model and ask about their toner refill service,etc...

I just receieved the same phone call.

The guy states that he is from Autodesk and that we may be eligable for
discounted upgrades, and do I have a minute to verify what I already have?
I said no, I think I'm alll set here. He said okay, thanks for your time.

Seems weird to me that these are random calls, they must have gotten a
customer list somewhere.

Troy, you should have told them that you were very interested. Then ask them for a bank account # where one of your overseas associates could electronically deposit the money. You could also add that you are an overseas engineer being persecuted by your current employer so you have to leave the country soon and must do this transaction immediately. 🙂

I just got the same call.

I asked him if he was the scam artist calling and pretending to be from AutoDesk. .........long pause.......... Then he offered to have his supervisor speak with me. How would putting someone else on the phone prove this was not a scam?

I finally just told him we certainly didn't need him to "check" our license number.

I wonder how many people they have gotten to bite so far....

LOL, I got the same call a couple of months ago as well. Some lady called wanted to verify what we had for AutoDesk software and I point blank told her I do not give out that kind of information to unidentified, unverified callers and that if it was a genuine offer that she should simply mail it to me in writing and that quite bluntly I didn't believe that she had anything to do with AutoDesk.

No idea what she was trying to pull but it sure smelled fishy.

@thomalex89

I could be wrong but I never heard of Autodesk directly calling customers in this matter.   Anybody can call and state they are from Autodesk.  I know resellers will do this to help out their customers and offer discounts and etc but Autodesk...

I do get a lot of emails asking if I want a list of Autodesk customers and stuff but I know these people are not from Autodesk...

Just another scam I guess...

If you want to get a bunch of calls simply sign up/download the free HSM express..

I've now had 7 calls and 6 emails from them and their "reps" about it..

I keep telling them "guys you've all got to get on the same page as I've received numerous calls now from 4 different people and frankly its ANNOYING"

Oh sales people.. stop bugging me and get on the same page..
