Weight times quantity of part?

Our Autocad parts lists used to calculate the weight of parts times the quantities.  Now we are using Inventor and I see that the weight shown on a parts list is the weight of an individual part - although the quantity could be 2 , 3 (more than one).  Is there a way to have the total weght shown equal to MASS times ITEM QTY?

Here are the steps:

1 - Edit your drawing parts list.  Right-click on the header of the column that displays your weight property, and choose Format Column...

2 - In the format editor box, click on the Substitution tab.  Then click the button to enable value substitution, then click the drop-down and choose Browse Properties.

3 - From the list of properties, choose your weight property (it might be called MASS, but if you have renamed the column it might show up under that name).

4 - Click the second drop-down and choose Sum of Values.  Also make sure to set any formatting options before clicking OK.

5 - Once the column is set up, it will show as a light blue color:

You might want to change the name of your column to indicate that it is a total weight, rather than a piece weight.

Post back if you have any more questions.
