WHY?

Why does this keep happening?

Inventor.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows.
You will need to restart the program.

Because IV is an "entry level" program
that requires "high end" hardware? 8~)

Seriously, you'll have to be a bit more
specific if you want find solutions.

That's like asking what is the meaning of life.

It just happens. You learn to accept it.

Having fast hardware doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't a hardware
issue.

yeah, you might wanna try changing video drivers, not neccesarily using the certified or newest ones. and make sure virus software isn't running. could be a bunch of things. basically it's a crapshoot. -Joe

I posted the same question about 2 years ago for R2. I was told Intel chips are most compatible (unlike VIA etc) as well as workstation graphics cards. Don't really know if anything matters because we are still crashing.
Thx,
Todd

Seriously, I have a fairly slow machine compared to most of you. I've got 2
P3 600Mhz processors, and I consider my machine to be very stable. I'm even
running anti-virus software.

Yes, I get on average 3 to 5 unexplaiend crashes a day when I'm really
pushing IV. I accept it as normal now. I've been with IV since R2 and I
consider 3 to 5 crashes or iPoofs to be much better than what it used to be.
From what I've heard, that's not uncommon with most 3D software packages.

When the crashes are predictable, that when it's easy to determine what's
wrong and when Autodesk begins to really take you seriously.

what type of motherboard do you have?

there may be some bios settings (ram timings) that may help

My machine is slower than yours.

I run Inventor on a P3 550Mhz, single processor. Only 382mb of RAM, and an
old TNT2 pro 32mb video card.

Now how's that for performance!

The learned discussion on the meaning of life was removed as it
didn't quite have anything to do with Inventor. !! Why did I see
that one coming? DON'T ANSWER THAT.
