Variable Fillet S-Curve

I'm applying a Variable Fillet to a simple straight edge. I add no intermediate points; it's just the Start point with X value and the End point with Y value.

I expect that to generate a constant taper. Instead it generates an s-curve.

Why is that? And is there a way to fix it (Other than forgetting the Fillet tool and Lofting two sketches? I know that's an option but it's such a pain.)?

The S-Spline is correct as the Fillet has to become square with the starting and stopping planes (top/bottom) surfaces. The only way to get a "Straight" fillet would be to create your cut-loft starting below the bottom surface and ending above your cut surface.
