Updated Tips & Tricks and a Neat Macro

I've updated my Tips & Tricks document with a few issues about R6 and how to
do some basic stuff like associate a macro with a tool button. While I was
writing it I started playing around with some stuff that I think a lot of
users would like.

Don't you just hate having to go to the view menu to turn off work planes,
points and axes. I noticed that the customize function has buttons to do
this but they are not icons, they are very large buttons. And I like small
buttons (not big ol' ones..)

BTW ADSK it would be nice to be able to make a custom flyout button in
R7..

Anyway. You can simulate these buttons using a few simple macros.

See CF for a copy of a bunch of icons and a text file. Paste the text file
into module1 of your default.ivb macro and place the BMPs in the same
directory as your default.ivb (usually C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor
6\Bin\Macros).

Now start up Iv and choose Tools/Customize/Commands and select Macro. You
should now have 7 icons in the right pane. make a new toolbar or use an
existing one and drag the buttons on it. You now have one touch access to
turning on and off work geometry.

See the tips and tricks tutorial for a more detailed description...

Just thought I'd share....

That's just what I've been looking for. Thanks, Sean, it works great!

Will that work for 5.3 or not?

The macro part should.  The toolbar buttons will
not.  However if you have to go to tool/macros/macro select the macro each
time you might as well use the original menu items...
