Hi! This is an urgent question! I'm having trouble modelling the Iron Man mask from the Iron Man helmet I made in Inventor 2014. Is there any way to create a 3D shape based off of a shape in another IPT? For example, I'm hoping I could just transfer the shape of the helmet gap (shown below) to the IPT of the Iron Man mask.
Sorry if my wording is confusing, and thanks so much!
I agree with Blair. Use Derived parts.
Alternatively: Put the helmet into an assembly. Create the "Helmet Gap.ipt" (in the context of the assembly). Use the "Copy Object" feature to select the helmet using the single composite feature option. Save everything. If you open the Helmet Gap.ipt on it's own, you'll see a surface model of the helmet so you can start the design of the mask.
Hi! Another way is to place the part in an assembly and then insert a blank part and use Copy Object command to copy the body over to the new part.
I do have a few questions though. You mention that the helmet part was created earlier. What is the difficulty with R2014? Couldn't you just save the part as a different part? What is your objective here?
Thanks!
If you have trouble figuring out how to use Derive Component -
Find the red End of Part marker in the browser.
Drag the red EOP to the top of the browser hiding all features.
Save the file with the EOP in a rolled up state.
Right click on the file name and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.
Attach the resulting *.zip file here.
